Summer Movie Night

Hometown Habitat Film

Broad Meadow Brook, Mass Audubon (414 Massasoit Rd)

Enjoy a film screening of Hometown Habitat, a 90-minute environmental documentary focused on educating about how and why native plants are critical to the survival and vitality of local ecosystems. There will be two screenings (12:30-2:30 and 3-5) with discussion following each screening. In between the two screenings, at 2:30, there will be a 20 minute garden tour of Broad Meadow Brook's native plantings.

Composting for Small Spaces

Learn how to build a small, fast-acting compost pile with Alex Carpenter from Assawaga Farm, and Jack Loomis, Urban Agriculture Specialist. Learn the composting process, what to put in the pile, and how to manage it.

Learn basic canning techniques with experts Dora Miller and Anna Gilbert-Muhammed. Participants will learn how to prepare and can fresh salsa via water bath canning. All ingredients and tools (including jars) will be provided.
